Hampton residents celebrate National Day of Prayer [Video]

HAMPTON, Va. — It was a day of reflection for many across the nation and Hampton Roads as many came together for National Day of Prayer. 

President Biden proclaimed May 2, 2024, a National Day of Prayer. In part, the proclamation reads: “On this National Day of Prayer, we recognize the power of prayer to strengthen our spirits, draw us together, and create hope for a better tomorrow.”

People gathered at Antioch Baptist Church in Hampton on Thursday to commemorate the day. 

“Today is so important because the world definitely needs prayer. The whole world needs prayer,” said attendee Seleasha Washington.

The theme of the service was ‘United Together, Believing for Better.’

Currently, there is civil unrest. War is taking place overseas; protests are breaking out at colleges and universities in the Commonwealth and across the country. …
