Annual Soup Sunday held to raise money for young adults [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – 35 restaurants across Memphis gathered together with gallons of soup Sunday afternoon all to create a better future for young adults.

Dozens of people spent Sunday afternoon filling up their bowls with soup.

“It is great to see the community come together to support kids who need the help, so they can learn how to be active, productive adults,” said Katie Jones, director of development for Youth Villages.

Although soup is flowing, money was also raised for Youth Village’s Lifeset program.

“An evidence-based program that helps kids aging out of the foster care system. So, this year in Memphis we will serve close to 500 young adults in our Lifeset program,” said Jones.

Sunrise chef and owner, Ryan Trimm, was one of the 35 restaurant owners serving soup for the fundraiser. He has served soup at ‘Soup Sunday’ for years and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime …
