ALLENWOOD —“ Fantastic” is the way a senior keeper at Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland describes the condition of the baby alligator found in a Lehigh County sewage treatment plant a year ago Sunday.

Thanos, as it has been named, is spunky and eating well, said keeper Tiffany Faull.

It appears it has fully recovered from its ordeal, she said. “You would never know it had such a rough start,” she said.

The little gator that was 13½ inches long when it arrived at the zoo along Route 15 north of Allenwood has grown to nearly 18 inches.

It takes years for alligators to reach full size, she explained. For a female it is about 8 feet and for a male, 11 to 13 feet, she said.

The sex of Thanos has yet to be determined because staff wanted to avoid the stress that could result from the required a blood draw, she said.
