Willie Nelsons Heartfelt Cover of What A Friend We Have in Jesus [Video]

In 1996, legendary country singer Willie Nelson released one of the most heartfelt covers of the classic gospel song “What A Friend We Have in Jesus” as part of his album, How Great Thou Art. 

The song was originally released by Joseph Scriven as a poem in 1855. It was not until 1868 that Charles Crozat Converse released a tune for the song. Since then, the song has become quite a staple hit not just in Christian churches but among country singers as well.
