‘Visiting Angels’ fundraises for Alzheimer’s Walk | Local [Video]

ROCHESTER, Minn.–Visiting Angels provides services ranging from personal care, to end-of-life care for seniors.

The organization which serves as non-medical homecare also addresses protections for seniors battling Alzheimer’s which impacts nearly 80 percent of its clients. 

Doug Schommer is the Community Outreach Coordinator for Visiting Angels. He says the disease hits home to the Rochester location because many of the caregivers know someone personally who battles it. 

On September 14   , the city is hosting it’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event at Cascade Creek and Visiting Angels is already working to contribute to the fundraiser for a cure. 

Just last week, Schommer voluntarily  sat in a jail cell  for four hours encouraging the community to raise funds for his “bail” . That money goes toward the Alzheimer’s Association.
