University of Tennessee track standout overcomes hurdles with sport and faith [Video]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Sometimes life throws you off track, but for University of Tennessee standout Ashley Jones, that’s when you get back up and put one foot in front of the other.

Jones is no stranger to adversity. She’s overcome plenty of hurdles prior to helping take the UT women’s track and field team to sixth place in the NCAA Championships, something the team hadn’t even qualified for in 20 years.

“It’s a beautiful realm of healing and to get to know yourself more, to know others more and have your life pointed towards something,” Jones said about her passion. She grew up in a house full of athlete’s and was taught by her father to chase her dreams by standing strong in her faith.
