UIUC faculty join pro-Palestine protests on campus [Video]

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — University of Illinois staff members joined pro-Palestine protestors by staging a rally on campus on Monday.

They said forming a coalition across colleges and departments is necessary to force administrators to act.

They call the group “Faculty for Justice in Palestine,” and they met on the quad where the pro-Palestine encampment has stood for more than a week now.

The group said the administration’s bad faith and leadership towards student protestors is what led them to hold a rally.

They called it “Hands Off Rafah…Solidarity with Our Students,” and aim to put more pressure on administrators.

“At every single term the administration has been deceitful,” said Kate Clancy with the FJP. “They have canceled meetings over, and over and over again. And the students are at the point where they’ve kind of had it. And I’m with them on that.”
