SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say two people were airlifted from the scene following a plane crash in Saluda County on Sunday.

According to the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office, the small airplane crashed between Persimmon Hill Golf Course and the Saluda County Airport. Deputies, emergency medical services personnel and the Saluda County Fire Service responded to the location.

The sheriff’s office said both passengers were taken from the scene by a Life Net helicopter for treatment. Sheriff Josh Price said one person is stable, and the other is in the intensive care unit in critical condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. and involved a single-engine Van’s RV-9 aircraft.
