Town of Loranger prays for Brunett family at candlelight vigil [Video]

LORANGER, La. (WVUE) – One day after Daniel Callihan’s first appearance in federal court, answering charges of murder he confessed to committing, those in Loranger are holding each other close grieving the unimaginable murders of a mother and daughter, Callie and Erin Brunett.

“I know Jesus said to forgive, and I’m strong in my faith, but I can’t find that forgiveness,” said Michelle Crowe, who called Callie Brunett her best friend.

“It’s all about solidarity,” said Ken Wallace.

Family friends and neighbors filed into the gym at Loranger High School Saturday night. Despite dark storm clouds looming above, the community showed strong support with a message for the Brunetts.

“He didn’t just take away my best friend,” Crowe said. “He took away my sweetheart. He took a part of my life away from me that I will never have again.”
