Summerville 70-year-old receives free hearing aids: I love hearing the birds [Video]

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) – A Summerville man who has devoted his time to the community recently received a free pair of hearing aids, allowing him to finally hear things he says he hasn’t been able to hear in years.

The free pair was a part of HearingLife’s Campaign for Better Hearing, which is an initiative to help provide free hearing aids to those who cannot afford them.

Calvin Gardner, 70, has been struggling with his hearing for many years now as he suffers from a profound high-frequency hearing loss.

The loss has affected his life at home, work and his many volunteer positions as Gardner donates his time to his church and community with his carpentry skills.

Gardner officially received his free hearing aids two weeks ago and came back into HearingLife Thursday for his first appointment since getting his hearing back.
