Sioux Falls City Council candidate raising awareness about DSS moving [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Monday, Jordan Deffenbaugh, a city council at-large candidate, raised awareness about one change he believes is going to have a negative impact on many.

The Department of Social Services will be moving from its downtown location to Dawley Farm.

On Monday, Deffenbaugh walked over three miles from the current location to where it will be moved. Along the way, he held a live Q&A on social media.

Deffenbaugh said that moving the location outside of downtown and away from many people who need direct access to the service is going to hurt the community.

“With it where it is now — right by Whittier neighborhood — it’s very convenient but has its challenges, so I want to offer up some alternatives. Or if we do move it out, how do we build a public transit system that can accommodate people’s needs?” said Deffenbaugh.
