New Amherst health center ‘one-stop shop for the family’ [Video]

MADISON HEIGHTS — The Amherst County Community Health Center, a new 22,000-square-foot facility operated by the Johnson Health Center in Madison Heights, opened its doors in early June and accommodates expanded health care services.

The new building is next to Johnson Health Center’s administrative building at 134 Elon Road and is on a hill overlooking U.S. 29 Business and the Amelon Plaza shopping center across the highway. It houses dental and primary care, behavioral health services, a pharmacy and a wellness center for staff and patients, said Mehgan McCrickard, chief operations officer for Johnson Health Center.

The site’s intention is to provide integrated care to patients of all ages, McCrickard said.
