Tears instantly sprang to her eyes.

Confetti cannons exploded around her, a standing ovation broke out, a bouquet of flowers was placed in her arms and a sash bearing “Teacher of the Year” was set around her shoulders.

In that moment, Erin Seitz was overwhelmed with gratitude, joy and unmeasurable respect for her fellow teachers.

Seitz, an art teacher at Lincoln Lutheran, was selected from a pool of over 700 nominees by the Herzog Foundation to be a 2024 Christian Teacher of the Year. Only 11 other teachers from across the country were chosen for the honor.
