Juneteenth celebration fills Pear Blossom Park | Top Stories [Video]

MEDFORD, Ore– Black Alliance & Social Empowerment, or B.A.S.E, held their Juneteenth celebration Saturday, celebrating freedom of slaves in America.

The event drew hundreds to Pear Blossom Park to showcase and celebrate the art and culture of the African American community.

The theme of this year’s Juneteenth celebration was “Resilience,” bringing the event as an “honoring of the enduring spirit and cultural richness of the Black community.”

Professional African drummers, dancers and bands took to the stage, so did the keynote speaker.

The streets were filled with vendors showcasing organizations, and providing services or selling goods from black-owned businesses.

“Events like this, it helps to get you connected,” Said vendor and owner of #URLOVED, Raydeedra Brock, “It brings some sense of belonging, some sense of being a part of something bigger than myself.”
