A good night’s sleep is something a lot of folks take for granted. Not everyone gets to sleep on a nice warm bed at night.

A local church and nonprofit are helping kids in need across the Rocket City. “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” teamed up with Latham Church to build beds for kids who don’t have them.

Ann Kepner works to end childhood bedlessness. She says her organization is well on their way to building more than 1,200 beds for the community.

Unfortunately, she’s seen way too many kids with poor sleeping conditions.

“Children sleeping in a pile of clothes, on a pallet on the floor, on a couch,” Kepner said. 

When Billy Bell and fellow members of Latham Church heard that, they knew they needed to step up.
