HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. — Highland Park will be holding a remembrance ceremony Thursday two year after the deadly parade shooting.
The event is meant to bring the community together as well as honor the lives lost. Seven people were killed and dozens wounded on July 4, 2022 when a gunman began shooting into the parade.
The remembrance ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. at Edgewood Middle School and the mayor and community and faith leaders will be making remarks.
The event is open to the public but it will not be live streamed or broadcasted out of respect to the survivors and families impacted by the shooting.

There will be a full minute of silence during the program.
People will then head to the new Independence Day parade route. The parade steps-off at 1 p.m. at 1st Street and Laurel Avenue and ends at Sunset Woods Park.
