Funeral details released for 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray [Video]

HOUSTON — Jocelyn Nungaray, the 12-year-old girl who was found dead in a north Houston creek earlier this week, will be laid to rest on June 27, her family announced during a public vigil Friday night.

The funeral service will take place at Earthman’s Resthaven on I-45 at 1 p.m. June 27. Her burial will be held after the service.

At Friday night’s vigil, Houston Mayor John Whitmire announced that Houston businessman Jim McIngvale would be covering the funeral expenses for the girl’s family.

Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, also spoke at the vigil.

“She was goofy, had her own personality,” Alexis said. “One of a kind. trendsetter. Loved, loved animals.”

Two men have been arrested and charged in Jocelyn’s death. Alexis was told about the arrests before the charges were made public.
