SIOUX CITY — A program has been created to assist owner-occupied households impacted by flooding in Sioux City’s Riverside neighborhood.
The City of Sioux City Neighborhood Services Division said in a statement that the program focuses on addressing the following needs related to flood impacts:
- HVAC
- Mechanical
- Water heaters
- Electrical panels
- Radon mitigation (federal requirement)
Other items may be approved on a case-by-case basis. All assistance is income based (only taxable income is counted). Income limits are on a sliding scale based on household size. For example, a family of four could not make more than $79,950 per year in taxable income. If a household only receives Social Security benefits that are not taxed, they would likely qualify.
Up to $10,000 per household in the form of a grant will be available. The program is funded by federal, state and local grants.
