CROMWELL, CT(WFSB) – First Tee Connecticut honored its students and awarded $50,000 in scholarships during a special breakfast at the Travelers Championship.

Among the recipients was Laniah Moffet, who received both the 19 Irons Scholarship and the AETNA Retires Scholarship, providing significant financial support to the students and their families.

Mark Moriarty, CEO of First Tee Connecticut, expressed pride in the organization’s commitment to rewarding students for their dedication, both on and off the golf course.

Moffet, initially disinterested in golf, found inspiration and motivation through coaching, culminating in her upcoming Division 1 collegiate career at Howard University.

“Being able to play in the highest collegiate level, it means so much to me. It means all the work that I put in, my parents put in, it’s paid off.” Said Moffet

First Tee Connecticut programs, that integrate life skills with golf lessons, begin as early as 7 years old.
