WellSpan studies are showing that too much exposure to social media can have a serious impact on kids’ mental health. A local expert advises families to divert their kids’ attention to hobbies.

“The best family memories are made by experiencing them together,” WellSpan pediatrician Dr. Caroline Hall said. “You know, get outside, get active. I definitely encourage people to make memories together as a family that don’t involve digital media because those are the best memories.”

Dr. Hall also says it’s worth checking with the parents of your kids’ friends to see how they limit time on devices.
