Developers unveil plan to breathe new life into historic KC Star building [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Those who live and work in the Crossroads may have been wondering what’s being done to the historic KC Star building. Developers say they are finally making progress on redevelopment.

“The Kansas City Star was one of the great innovators of its time. You know, it just had a cool story to tell,” Erik Wullschleger, 3D Development, said.

Now developers say that story continues with a new era. Their plans for the roughly 250,000 square foot building includes a European-style market, food hall, office space, and more. According to developers, the $95 million project is being funded through a combination of funding sources including grants and tax dollars.

“Bringing daytime office workers that will be here Monday through Friday, eating hamburgers, drinking beers at happy hour, attending First Fridays, you can imagine the impact that we believe this will have on the community,” Wullschleger said.
