Community leaders begin Envision Williamson Road project to increase public safety [Video]

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — All eyes were on Williamson Road on April 8, as community leaders and residents gathered to discuss ways to make the busy thoroughfare a safer commute and public space in Roanoke.

On Monday, “Envision Williamson Road” held its first steering meeting where leaders introduced the project plan and walked a nearly two-mile stretch of the road.

Williamson Road is known for its sea of small businesses and is the home for many residents in the Star City. However, with recent upticks in pedestrian crashes near the area, the community engagement project is striving to make Williamson Road safer for all users.
