SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (13 News) – With the digital world in the palm of our hands access to social media has become easier and experts are warning about the lasting impacts on youth.
On Monday, April 8, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, the Health Department, and Thunder Mountain Community Church held its “Town Talk,” an event raising awareness about the effects of social media on the mental health of teens.
According to CCSO Operations Commander Robert Watkins, giving children a phone opens them up to a world of unknowns.
“I brought pain and suffering into my household because it is so easy to destroy someone by using a cell phone or social media,” he said.
