City of Ragland passes proclamation to support high school [Video]

RAGLAND, Ala. (WBRC) – Ragland City Councilman Brian Phillips says there’s strength in numbers and his community has the backing from one of the largest companies in St. Clair County.

The Ragland City Council, along with the mayor, called a special meeting Thursday; to pass a proclamation in support of Ragland High School to remain open.

Concerned about the negative impact this closure would have on the community, City Councilman Brian Phillips says he understands the St. Clair County Board of Education has a job to do, but this community is passionate about their school and will continue to have their voices heard.

“We have one of the largest corporate citizens of St. Clair County in our town which is National Cement Company of Alabama and we’ll also be sharing tonight (Thursday) at that meeting a letter from their president. This is a company that invested the largest investment in St. Clair …
