ATTENTION, FEC! Ted Cruz PAC faces questions about podcast revenue [Video]

Senator Ted Cruz is up for re-election this year, and his podcast is helping him in more ways than one.

Verdict With Ted Cruz has been airing since 2020, and it’s a convenient way for the Texas Senator to get right-wing propaganda to his audiences. It’s clearly effective and has a decent reach, since it’s the 8th most popular political podcast in the United States on Apple Podcasts, according to Chartable.

It also makes money. There’s ad revenue, and donations — including from iHeartRadio lobbyists, who have a considerable financial interest in the program’s success.

But Cruz isn’t taking a paycheck from the podcast, which he claims to see as volunteer work. Instead, that cash is pouring into his campaign coffers, and the problem is that it could be illegal. The Daily Beast reported:
