2024 Disability Caravan makes stop in Charlotte [Video]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The 2024 Disability Caravan made a stop in Charlotte recently. This caravan is making stops all across America to bring attention to the disability community and to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Olmstead Act which requires states to place qualified individuals with mental disabilities in community settings, rather than confined to institutions. The road trip started back in April and will end in October. CW Tillman is a volunteer and has been driving to the stops.

“After this I will be in Anderson SC,” Volunteer CW Tillman said. “I’m going on to Memphis TN, Kansas City MO, Des Moines IA, and then up to the Minneapolis/St Paul area and probably a few stops in between.”

Tillman says this caravan is making a difference and at each stop, he believes the concerns of the disabled are resonating.
