AMORY, Miss. – The Freeman family is one of many that will benefit from a large donation to the Monroe Strong Foundation. The Lions of Mississippi donated $100,000 to the non-profit organization to help reroof homes in Monroe County.
“We’re lions we help serve. That is our motto we serve,” Lions of Mississippi Governor Amanda Harrison said. “And that’s what we’re doing here in Monroe County, and Amory specifically, is serving people and helping them get new roofs put on their houses… getting them a fresh start after the tornado that hit here last year.”
The Freeman family home has hosted four generations. Alice Freeman is the current owner of the home. She has lived in the house for over seven decades. Freeman said the memories made through the front door could fill a book.
