Ozarks Beerfest kicks off at Springfield, Mo. fairgrounds [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Ozarks Beerfest kicked off at the Ozarks Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, Mo.

The festival ran from 1 to 4 p.m. and hosted many local brewery companies. The event also had food, games, raffle prizes, live music and water stations for sobering drivers up before leaving.

Beerfest is held every year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks to raise funds and awareness of local youth and mentorship programs.

“We raise money for the kids,” said Chris Childers, one of the members of Big Brothers Big Sisters, “All proceeds raised today are going back to Big Brothers Big Sisters.”

The festival was a welcome event after a day of stormy weather.

“It rained all day yesterday and the sun’s out today,” Childers told KY3, “Even though we’re indoors, we got a packed house having a good time.”
