Hope Harbor hosts 27th annual Take Back the Night [Video]

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Advocates against sexual violence gathered at First Christian Church for Hope Harbors ‘Take Back the Night’ event.

April serves as sexual assault prevention month. Hope Harbor, an organization that specializes in sexual violence recovery, took advantage of a month that aligns so well with their mission.

“Events like this, like Take back the Night helps other survivors know that there are others that have experienced the same thing,” said Hope Harbor Executive Director Melissa Whitney.

Hope Harbor hosted their 27th annual ‘Take Back the Night’ event. It’s a night dedicated to raising awareness around sexual violence and encouraging those affected to reach out.

“During the last fiscal year, we served 730 survivors in our communities through our ten counties in the BRADD area,” said Whitney. “That was actually a 67 percent increase from the year prior.”
