CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A vigil held tonight in remembrance of the four officers fallen in the line of duty. Representatives from not only faith-based groups but city and county officials gathered at a church in Uptown to try to comes to terms on what happened, and what it’ll take to move forward.
It’s the first of what’s sure to be many remembrances for these fallen officers who died in the line of duty yesterday. But the first one, always hurts a little bit more.
“Turmoil and disbelief that was all taking place at the same time.”
Mayor Vi Lyles talked about the uncertainty and confusion in the early hours of what was a painful, and difficult day.
“We weren’t really sure of what happened, and we’re still unsure about it to this day,” Mayor Lyles said.
