Ellsworth Air Force Base airmen give back to Black Hills [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) – The military is providing a helping hand to the community.

On Friday, Ellsworth Air Force Base airmen volunteered around the Black Hills for the inaugural “Service before Self” day.

Volunteer teams from Ellsworth Air Force Base’s 28th Bomb Wing scattered across Rapid City looking to do their part and provide a good deed to the community. The maintenance team helped with housing construction projects as part of a partnership with the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity and the logistics group teamed up with Youth and Family Services.

“The main goal being service before self, that’s the overarching theme here. It’s one of the three Air Force core values,” Senior Airman Benjamin Schwartz. “And the way we’ve incorporated that as best we could was to work with local organizations to provide volunteers for the different activities. Whatever they need assistance with.”
