OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) – Residents in Okolona celebrated the start of construction for the Rose Hill Memorial.
This memorial, which is being built by a Chickasaw County man named Robert Maharrey, is expected to take two years to complete.

When completed, the memorial will be a place where anyone can pray at any time, and the goal of the builders is to create a place where people can openly pray.
Saturday, a ceremony was held for the cornerstone of the building.
The memorial will be made from about 15,000 historical bricks, and Bibles will also be placed in the foundation of the building.
The property is privately owned but will be open to the public when completed.
