Bella Vista teen “drafted” by Buffalo Bills star [Video]

Like many athletes in the this year’s NFL draft, 17-year-old Mackenzie Maddry was selected by an organization of her own. The Bella Vista native was drafted to the 2024 Abbott HeartMates team by Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin and three-time Super Bowl champion Tedy Bruschi. She is one of 11 individuals who were selected to serve as ambassadors throughout the year. “As an ambassador, we’re asked to speak, and we’re told to share our stories as much as possible because that will help other people,” Maddry said. “It will help doctors learn, and it will help others understand your story and stories like yours.”In 2020, she was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma. From there, Maddry underwent 21 rounds of chemotherapy as well as multiple surgeries, putting the cancer in remission.
