OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Dozens of people are taking a shot in the arm in the Omaha metro.
Douglas County health officials went to work with the volunteers cleaning up after last week’s disastrous storm, opening up a tetanus vaccine clinic on Sunday. So far, they’ve administered close to 100 doses of the shot.
“I’m happily surprised that folks are coming in to get update son their shots,” said Molly Elston, a clinic supervisor. “I think there’s been good word-of-mouth information passed through the neighborhoods about the availability of these shots and we’re happy folks are getting in to protect themselves.”
Elston said tetanus is a pretty rare disease nowadays, considering vaccinations have been widely available to the public for over 60 years, but keeping up with those shots can help keep those numbers low.
